Unique textiles can be a powerful communication tool, telling the story of their creation and bequeathing it to generations of the future. Let us make that story resonate – textiles are a piece of art that lasts and their creation can be gentle to the environment and our communities. It was an honour to share this story with guests at the TEDx Vitosha Countdown event this October 2024.
October is the month of awakening all the creative energy after a summer full of replenishing breaks. It is also the month before the festive season sets us in a mode of counting our blessings and recognising valuable achievements. Could there be better timing for an event that brings together the sharp know-how of thought leaders and the sharing of exemplary actions and practices that take care of our community and planet?
TedX Vitosha Countdown was held on October 15, 2024 in Sofia, Bulgaria and allowed 400 guests to listen to insightful thought leaders on practices and experiences that bring us closer to world that is safer, cleaner and fairer for everyone. It was an afternoon and a night full of thought-provoking insights and meaningful exchange between people who may not be in the same business industry or vocational occupation, but all share a common concern for nature and a more sustainable way of life.
We are thrilled that ODAYA Home was invited to exhibit sustainably-produced textile at the event and would happily relive both the preparation process and the exhilarating experience at our booth for the occasion.
Held at the time of the official launch of our Aphrodite’s Orchids fine dining collection, the ODAYA Home team took to an inspiring art creation project with visual artist Tsvetana Nedeva. The Aphrodite Orchid Mannequin came to life with the pure linen fabric that is the base for our handcrafted fine dining collection, adorned with a gorgeous antique lace.
A corset of craft paper with handmade orchids and anemone flowers in contrasting shapes and earthly colours complements the natural feel of the linen fabric and invites the eye to take in the harmonious, yet still stunning and captivating blend of human creation with plant-based fibers. Some guests were truly impressed!
As a business in the textile sector, which is sadly one of the largest contributors to pollution in the world, we at ODAYA Home are set on continuing to choose our fabrics responsibly, to empower textile artisans with materials that are gentle to the environment, and to focus our clients on choosing textiles that last in the long run.
It has been an honour to present at TEDxVitosha our achievements and the new Aphrodite’s Orchids Collection for fine dining, made of pure Italian linen, awarded with the Pure Linen Faber certificate. The interest in our products at the event was spectacular with a long line of clients inquiring about our textile products until past midnight.
The first showing of Aphrodite’s Orchids Mannequin spurred many thought-provoking conversations about textile as art and the unique character of textiles that are intentionally and caringly produced. In the eve of the holiday season kick-off, our ODAYA Home team is poised to keep our focus on creating unique textiles that resonate the story of their owner and provoke us to continue choosing wisely.
